The Anunnakis, or "those who came down from heaven,' were the main gods of the ancient Sumeans, Acadians, Assyrians, and Babylonians who inhabited Mesopotamia, the region in which Iran and Iraq are now located. In Sumean mythology, Enki was one of the most important gods and the patron of the city of Eridu, considered by the ancient inhabitants of Mesopotamia as the first city built in the world. In the Epic of Atrahasis, the epic poem of Sumerian mythology that tells the story from creation to the Great Flood, Enki is responsible for the creation of mankind, which was destined to serve the gods. Humans, who at this time had long lives, multiplied rapidly and Enlil, the head of the gods, was very disturbed by the noise humans made and decided to send catastrophes to Earth to shrink the population, and in each catastrophe, humans begged Enki to teach them what to do to survive. Enlil then decides to send a great flood to exterminate mankind once and for all, and as Enki was unable to thwart Enlil's plans, he came down to Earth to save Atrahasis, whom he considered a righteous man. Enki ordered and instructed Atrahasis to build an ark to save himself from Enlil's wrath, and all other human beings were destroyed in the flood. After the flood, Enlil suggested creating the human being again, but this time with some limitations, such as being less fertile, short-lived and more vulnerable than the previous race. The Sumerian god known as ENKI was god of the waters, and he is often depicted with rivers (possibly the Tigris and the Euphrates) flowing from his shoulders. Although the clay tablets on which this story of Enki was written are 5000 years old, they speak of a time even more remote, the time of creation, when the Sumerian gods (known as the Anunnaki) began organizing the world. The Sumerian text for this story is taken from a collection of tablets known as GILGAMESH, ENKIDU AND THE NETHER WORLD, and anyone who is interested in the translations and Sumerian transliterations can find them on the University of Oxford website: THE ELECTRONIC TEXT CORPUS OF SUMERIAN LITERATURE. Some of the other Anunnaki gods who are mentioned in this tale are AN (Enki’s father and god of the heavens), ENLIL (a god of wind and storms), and ERESHKIGAL (queen of the nether world). The lute that you see me playing at the beginning of this video is a Sumerian “gish-gudi”, the ancient ancestor of lutes that are still found today in Mesopotamia, Persia, Turkey and the Middle East. There are no examples of Sumerian lutes still in existence, they long ago turned to dust, but we do have descriptions of the instruments and a few rare depictions. I also used a “zurna” a kind of folk oboe that was very popular in ancient times, and still exists throughout the Middle East. With a bit of practice, it is possible to play the zurna using “circular breathing” which provides a constant drone. Unfortunately, it is not possible to sing and play the zurna at the same time! No one knows what Sumerian music sounded like, but we do know something about the instruments they used. What I have done in this video is to use the musical tools we know were available to the musicians of Sumer, and then allow my own imagination to do the rest. The walls you see in the background of the video are part of an inner courtyard in the city of Babylon in modern Iraq.

So, did Ninurta proclaim this? Nannar, Enlil's firstborn on Earth, has a peculiar wish: he wishes for the Deluge to survive not in Earth's skies but on the Moon. Enki arched his eyebrow; Enlil, though perplexed, gave his approval. Ishkur, the youngest son of Enlil, has decided to remain on Earth with his father. It was decided that Nannar's Earth-born children, Utu and Inanna, would remain. Enki and Ninki chose to remain, and Earth did not abandon their decision; they announced it with pride. Igigi and Sarpanit cried out, "I will not abandon!" Marduk's response was one of anger. One by one, Enki's other sons declared their intention to remain: Nergal and Gibil, Ninagal and Ningishzidda, and finally, Dumuzi. When all eyes were on Ninmah, she proclaimed with pride, "My life's work is here!" I will not abandon the human beings I created! Her words infuriated the Anunnaki and Igigi, who inquired about the Fate of the Earthlings. Let the inhabitants of the Earth perish for their abominations, declared Enlil. Enki exclaimed to Enlil, "We have created a marvellous being"; it must have been due to our efforts. Enlil responded with his own shouted words: From the beginning, each choice you made was correct! It's not uncommon for me to find ideas like: "If it weren't for Enki, we wouldn't even exist!" or "Enlil is the enemy of humanity!" Some recent books present the idea that Enki might be Jesus himself, who at some point, by some advanced method, incarnated as a man, in the person of Jesus, to save us, and then returned to his original body. This is a very interesting theory! But there is not even concrete evidence that Jesus himself ever existed. It is more than anything else, an act of faith and hope. In the scriptures of the Hebrew people, Enlil is the true God, while Enki is the Serpent of Eden. In other cultures, roles are reversed. We have several divergent currents of ideas and thoughts, which can lead to wrong judgments about one and the other. What do we know about them?... We know that: Enlil, is the son of Anu, with his queen consort Antu, who was also his half-sister. Therefore Enlil was the legal successor of Anu, to the throne of Nibiru, by the Law of the Seed.
